We knew that we would enjoy a trip to the Prosecco region….But the Prosecco tour with our driver Cris far exceeded expectations!
Cris met us at the train station in Cornegliano. We were a party of 5. His vehicle was large, clean, comfortable–in other words perfect. He even offered us cold bottled water!!
Not only does Cris speak perfect English–he’s very funny, sweet and extremely knowledgeable about the region.
We visited 3 wineries–Toni Doro (which WE asked to visit) and two others that Cris had set up for us.
The owner at Toni Doro met us upon arrival. What a fantastic host!! He gave us a walking tour of his vineyards and explained the Prosecco making process, then hosted us for a tasting of his Prosecco. He’s extremely proud of his product—and we loved it too!!!
We ended up purchasing 12 bottles before we left!!
Cris set up our second tasting at Duca di Dolle where we were given a wonderful lunch consisting of several types of prosciutto, cheeses, bread and 6 different Proseccos. The setting was a beautiful outdoor garden overlooking the vineyards. We didn’t want to leave!! (We bought several bottles.)
Our final stop was Gregoletto winery where we were given a tour, more food, and a wonderful tasting hosted by the daughter of the wine maker. (Again we purchased several bottles).
We ended up shipping quite a bit back to the USA–which Cris helped us accomplish.
Then sadly our tour was over.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this service and Cris—if you can book him–cause he’s in high demand.
Each of these wineries was family owned and family run.
I highly recommend doing this particular tour.
My understanding is that most wineries don’t take you into their fields—so our visit to Toni Doro was extra special.
