We had such a lovely tour of the Prosecco region in July 2019. Oriana was a fantastic tour guide, very knowledgeable of the area and of everything to do with Prosecco. She is Italian, lives in the Prosecco region and her English is also very good. She seemed to know everyone and around every corner she found another part of the area that was her ‘favourite’, she took us to five very different wineries, each one had its own charm and we genuinely did not have a bad glass of wine (and no hangovers) despite having our first glass around 11am some mornings.
We had booked our own accommodation and then we arranged for Oriana (recommended by ‘Vist Prosecco’ website) to take us on a 2 day tour of the Prosecco wineries. All we had to do was put down a deposit through e-mail and then paid her the remainder at the end of the tour. We were very lucky because the weather was very hot, in fact we actually decided to go to another hotel and use their pool on the first day but we called Oriana and she was very happy to come and collect us from there instead, and of course she knew the owner. We visited two wineries on the first day, one smaller grower and one much larger. Oriana only took us to DOCG wineries and was very proud of the fact the region had recently been awarded ‘Unesco World Heritage’ status, and rightly so, it was all so beautiful. The second day we started a little earlier than originally planned, but once again Oriana was very flexible to our requests and dropped us off wherever we asked for lunch or dinner. We had travelled light as well, having first spent a couple of days in Venice before getting the train to Connegliano, so were not expecting to be able to take any bottles back on the plane however, Oriana had all the details to buy and then ship bottles back home, our delivery arrived very safely packaged about two weeks after we got back, and it all tasted as good as we remember (very reasonable price too). Oriana collected all of our bought bottles and arranged the delivery, even letting us use her iPad in the back of the car to fill in all necessary details. (Please note: She made no extra commission for this, simply letting us know the website and what to expect). We are now DOCG snobs and look for the label (brown) on all our bottles now (although still enjoy a DOC bottle (blue label), but don’t tell Oriana this…). Cannot recommend her highly enough, we will definitely be going back at some point and look forward to seeing Oriana again.
